In the last 24 hours, 85 people have died in the fires in Victoria. 60% of Queensland is underwater due to the floods. Western Australia is melting in the heat. South Australia is drawing an alarming combination of heat and cold, indicating a coming electric storm. NT is just... well, NT.

Drought, flood, and fire. There is nothing more to say. I can only hope things don't get any worse, that people can start to rebuild their lives and things will improve. I hope, I really hope. I don't care much for our government, and our economic, environmental and foreign policies could do with some work but... I don't want to see more deaths blared up on the news as individual deaths are lost in the mounting death toll - just single lines on our growing tally board. It might seem a bit melodramatic, but it's not.

If global warming is messing with the weather patterns, and things get any worse, I'm afraid post-apocalyptic science fiction is going to get a lot closer to reality.
